Simple Fixes for a Slow Wi-Fi Connection at Home

A slow internet connection can make even basic tasks frustrating. Before upgrading your plan, try these small fixes that can improve your speed at home.

1. Move Your Router

Keep it in a central, open space. Avoid closets, corners, or under furniture.

2. Restart Your Modem

Sometimes a quick reboot clears up temporary issues. Unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in.

3. Limit Connected Devices

Too many devices at once can slow down your speed. Disconnect anything you’re not using.

4. Change the Channel

Wi-Fi signals use channels. If your neighbors are on the same one, it can cause interference.
Check your router settings to switch channels manually.

5. Use Ethernet for Important Devices

If possible, plug into the router for faster, more stable connections—especially for work or streaming.

A few adjustments at home can make your internet feel faster without spending more.
